Our favourite vegan recipes to eat with PULSÍTOS!

PULSÍTOS is a healthy vegan and gluten-free snack food that you can tuck into after a workout, after school, or as the perfect appetizer to accompany a pre-dinner apéritif.

But PULSÍTOS can also be added to your favourite vegan recipes to add a protein kick and a bit of extra crunch.

Why add PULSÍTOS to vegan recipes?

Our tasty PULSÍTOS snacks are made of fava beans, a pulse that's high in fibre and protein, and low in fat. The humble fava is also packed with micronutrients and vitamins.

Why do fitness fans love our healthy snacks?

Because they know that carbs are good for them, especially complex carbohydrates like fava beans.

Eating complex carbs like pulses gives you a feeling of being full for a long time and provides your body with a steady supply of energy throughout the day. Pulses also bring down blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and keep blood sugar levels stable, which is another big plus, especially for diabetics.

There are loads of other health benefits associated with including fava beans as part of a healthy diet. And they're all excellent reasons to add more pulses like fava beans to your favourite vegan recipes.

How to use PULSÍTOS in vegan recipes

With three different flavour combinations, our fibre-rich fava bean snack can spice up a salad, pack a serious punch as part of a protein-rich breakfast, and even add a dash of savoury surprise to desserts.

The versatile, fibre-filled fava bean offers lots of fun possibilities to be inventive!

PULSÍTOS Granola for 2: a protein-packed breakfast to get you out the door

Get a strong start to your protein and fibre game early in the morning!

What:

2 packs of Lightly Salted  PULSÍTOS

4 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

Handful of walnuts

Handful of dried cranberries

Serve with some sliced up strawberries and banana (or other fruits of your choice) and Greek yogurt (or this Alpro plant-based alternative).

How:

Preheat your oven to 180C.

Take out your rage! Place the PULSÍTOS under a dishcloth and smash them up using a rolling pin or the base of a pan – don’t worry we won’t be offended – 3 swift bashes should do it.

On the hob, gently heat the coconut oil (to liquid, if needed), maple syrup and vanilla extract.

Add the PULSÍTOS, walnuts and cranberries and mix.

On a baking tray, lay out some baking paper and pour the mixture on top – spreading out into a layer around 1cm thick.

Place in the oven (at 180C) on a baking tray for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Leave to cool then either store in an airtight jar or munch it straightaway.

If breakfast is your favourite meal of the day, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

vegan salad with pulsitos

PULSÍTOS & Grains Springtime Salad for 2

This is a deliciously colourful spring salad combining red, black and white quinoa with vegan halloumi and PULSÍTOS.

What:

1 pack of Sweet Chilli PULSÍTOS

100g quinoa for 2 people

200ml vegetable stock

1 medium red onion

1 courgette

1 red pepper

Handful of cherry tomatoes

1 tbsp olive oil

1 pack of vegan halloumi or mozzarella

How:

Make the quinoa as per pack instructions. (We tend to make ours with vegetable stock to give our quinoa an extra flavour kick! It’s usually 50g per person with double the amount of water. It should take around 12 minutes to absorb all of the stock water on a high heat. We used 7 out of 9 on our electric hob).

Slice and dice some red onion (half a medium-sized one), a courgette and a red pepper and slowly heat this with some olive oil until the vegetables are soft.

Once done mix this together with the quinoa.

Place a pan on the hob and heat to a high temperature.

Add the sliced vegan halloumi and allow it to melt slightly.

Add this to the quinoa and veggie mixture, mix together, top off with some sweet chilli PULSÍTOS, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

You can also add some jalapenos for an extra kick!

10/10 – we’ll be making this again!

vegan fennel salad with pulsitos

PULSÍTOS, Fennel & Orange Sicilian Summer Salad for 2

This perfect BBQ side dish from the sun-kissed slopes of Mount Etna is also great as a main.

What:

1 pack of Mediterranean Herbs or Sweet Chilli PULSÍTOS

1 fennel bulb

1 orange

1 tbsp white wine vinegar

2 tbsps olive oil

Salt and pepper

How:

Trim a fresh fennel bulb, taking off the stems.

Then cut the bulb in half (lengthways) and remove the outer layer.

Lie both halves flat on a chopping board and cut into slices working from the top to the bottom. To get even thinner slices, you could use a mandoline.

Then take your orange, peel it and dice into smallish cubes.

In a bowl, mix together 1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of coarse salt and ground black pepper.

Add the fennel and orange pieces and mix together.

Before serving, scatter some crunchy Mediterranean Herbs or Sweet Chilli PULSÍTOS for a herby finish or a sweet kick.

You’ll soon win a rep for serving up the best BBQ sides that could ever exist! Shop bought coleslaw? No thanks…

Handful of watercress

Handful of spinach

100g of quinoa

1 red or yellow pepper

2 tomatoes

Olive oil

Salt

How:

Make the quinoa as per pack instructions. (We tend to make ours with vegetable stock to give our quinoa an extra flavour kick! It’s usually 50g per person with double the amount of water.
